LYNN — Alina (Richard) Saulnier, 93, of Lynn, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Born in St. Croix, New Brunswick, Canada to the late Francois and Marguerite (Boudreau) Richard. She was raised in Buctouche, NB, until moving to Salem and then to Lynn, where she lived most of her life. Alina was the wife of 63 years to the late Norman Saulnier. She worked as a seamstress for Landry Brothers in Salem and was a member of the Dames de St. Anne and the Franco American Ladies Auxiliary. She was involved with many activities affiliated with the former St. Jean Baptiste Church in Lynn; as a Eucharistic Minister, a CYO chaperone, and as a volunteer at bingo and bazaars. Alina enjoyed traveling, needlepoint, playing cards with the girls, playing the piano and especially spending time with her family and grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children; Lorraine Brennan and her husband Tom of Lynn, Richard Saulnier and his wife Cindy of Peabody, Claudette “Coo” Saulnier-Dyer and her husband Tom of Worcester, four grandchildren who affectionately knew her as “Memere;” Eileen Brennan, Kerri Brennan and her fiancé Ander Steele, Haley and Cameron Saulnier, her siblings-in-law; Ralph “Babe” Saulnier and his wife Marie of Lynn, Alma Barrett of Lynn, David Olsson of Florida, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Norman Saulnier, three sisters; Yvonne Pariseau, Laudia Richard, Eveline Roy, five brothers; Arthur, Albert, Philias, Ovila, and Tilmon Richard, siblings-in-law; Laurie and Doris Saulnier, Claire Richard, Lawrence Barrett, and Rose Marie Olsson.
Service information: Alina’s funeral will be held on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016, at 9 a.m. from SOLIMINE Funeral Home 426 Broadway (Rt. 129) Lynn, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Pius V Church, Lynn. Burial will follow at St. Jean Cemetery, Lynn. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
