DANVERS — Ellen A. Cecil of Danvers, formerly of Lynn, passed away peacefully in The Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on Monday morning, Dec. 19, 2016, at the age of 80. Born in Lynn on April 2, 1936, Ellen was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of St. Mary’s Girls High School. Ellen worked as a bank teller for many years. It was while working at Essex Bank in Swampscott that she met her future husband James C. Cecil. The couple married and settled in Lynn to begin their lives together. They spent many years in marriage, raising and caring for their family, until James’ passing in May of 1995. Ellen worked for Eastern Bank as well and eventually retired from Sears 20 years ago. Her retired years found her volunteering around Lynn. She helped in Lynn City Hall as a greeter at the information desk where she could interact with the many citizens and got to show off her keen sense of humor. She also volunteered time at the senior center as well. Ellen was a supporter of both the Easter Seals and the March of Dimes. Her quiet time found her completing crossword puzzles. Throughout her life’s engaging activities, nothing could compare to her love for her children and grandchildren. She supported her sons in their athletic events, never missing a game, and she would do anything for her grandchildren; even traveling across country to visit them in California. Ellen leaves her children: Dorene Amirault of Danvers and her former husband, Joseph Amirault, David Cecil of Magnolia and his girlfriend, Kim Douglas of Danvers, and Darren Cecil and his wife, Christine Cecil of San Diego, Calif. as well as her grandchildren; Stephen and Brianna Amirault of Danvers, Jenna and Molly Cecil of Beverly, and Tinsley Petero and her husband, Noah, Christian James “CJ” Cecil, and Darren Michael Cecil, all of California.
