HARWICH — Mary Ellen (Andros) Clarke, 58, of Harwich, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 27, surrounded by her family following a 2.5 year battle with cancer.

She was born on Dec. 31, 1957, in Lynn to the late James S. Andros and Ellen (Canaris) Andros. Mary graduated from Lynn English High School in 1975 and from the University of Lowell in 1979.

Mary was the loving wife of John H. Clarke of Harwich for 29 years. She was a wonderful mother to her two children, James M. Clarke of Harwich and Christine E. Clarke of Washington, D.C. She is the beloved sister of Diane Donahue and Cynthia Worthylake, both of Lynn, and Carol Cahill of Peabody. She leaves behind an extensive network of family and friends.

Mary devoted her life to raising her family. She also touched many lives through her volunteer work in the Town of Harwich. For the past eight years, Mary found joy in her work as a manager at Consigning Women which she called her “happy place.” Mary will be remembered for her selfless and positive spirit that radiated kindness, warmth and love.

Mary’s family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Dana Farber, Brigham & Women’s and Cape Cod Hospitals for their exceptional care.

Service information: Visiting hours will be held on Friday, Sept. 2, from 4-7 p.m., at Morris, O’Connor & Blute Funeral Home, 678 Main St., Harwich Center. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 3, at 11 a.m., at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, South St. Harwich Port. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s name may be made to the Jerome Lipper Multiple Myeloma Center.
