LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. — Donald (Don) J. Whorf Sr., age 86, of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., (formerly of Lynn), died on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016, following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late June Drusilla (Burgess) Whorf, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage.
Born in Lynn on Feb. 27, 1930, he was the son of the late Donald A. and Agnes (Manning) Whorf. He was born and raised in Lynn, working at the GE in Lynn for 22 years until his retirement at which time he moved to Lake Havasu City, Ariz.
Don was an Army Veteran of the Korean War, where he was a Corporal serving in the 187th Regimental Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division. He was also a cook for General Westmoreland during part of this time.
Don is survived by his children, Drusilla (Dru) Madruga of Lynn, Gerald (Jay) Whorf and Wendy Paul of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and David Whorf of New Mexico, and the late Donald J. Whorf Jr., of Lake Havasu City, as well as eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
