Elizabethton, Tenn. — Richard “Butchie” Parrish, 48, Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2016, in the University of Tennessee Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Born April 30, 1968, in Lynn, Massachusetts, he had lived in Elizabethton for a number of years.
He was the beloved son of Walter L. and Evelyn Richardson Parrish. He leaves behind four brothers, Kenneth Brown of Elizabethton, Alan Brown, Clayton Brown of Massachusetts and Ronald Parrish of Florida and two sisters, Donna Brown and Wanda Kilroy.
He also leaves many aunts, uncles and cousins he was very close to who will miss him greatly. The friends he leaves are countless and would fill a book. Especially Cindy, Marc, Helene, Paul, Dan, Jay, Mike and his God-son Marc.
He loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending time playing cards or just hanging with his friends in Lynn Woods. He loved swimming and horse shoes.
He was employed in painting and construction for many years until he became too ill to work. He loved to help people and loved animals, especially his dogs. He also belonged to The Responsible Dog Owners who fought against dog discrimination.
Service information: A memorial service will be held in the Memorial Funeral Chapel at 4 p.m., on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016, with a visitation from 2-4 p.m., prior to the service.
