LYNN — Mr. Leo J. Willis, age 92, of Lynn, died Aug. 6, 2016, after a brief illness. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Charles J. and Mary (Breau) Willis, husband of the late Mary E. Willis.
Leo was a lifelong Lynn resident, veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard who proudly served his country during World War II on the USS Gladwyne, one of the ships that is now referred to as the Forgotten Fleet. Prior to his retirement he worked for General Electric in Lynn and Everett. Leo was a kind man who always took the time to help and care for others. He enjoyed cooking, carpentry, gardening and most of all spending time with his family and friends. He loved to play a good game of cribbage and enjoyed teaching all his family to play.
He leaves his daughter, Lois Tower, grandchildren, Scott Tower (Kelly), Kelly Arons (Donald), Thomas Lussiano (Barbara), LeeAnne Botelho (David) great-grandchildren, Christopher and Douglas Tower, Michael and Jacqueline Burgess, Illeisha Lussiano, Victoria and Rebecca Arons and Shelby Tucker, siblings, Jeannette King and Claire Zavarella and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Linda Lussiano, father-in-law of the late James Tower, grandfather of the late Michelle Lussiano, Amanda Burgess and brother of the late Edward, Charlie, and Rita Willis, Marie Norris, Dorothy Hill and Grace Waterman.
Service information: A funeral service will be held in the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Route 129) Lynn, on Thursday at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
