NEWBURY — Joan Lee (Calandro) Cleveland, age 70, of Newbury, passed early Saturday morning, Nov. 19, 2016 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the devoted wife of 43 years to L. Richard Cleveland — they were each others best friend.
Born in Lynn, on Nov. 4, 1946, she was one of two daughters of the late John and Lucy (Grieco) Calandro and was a graduate of Swampscott High School.
Joan worked as a systems analyst for Boston Acoustics for many years.
She leaves behind the love of her life, her husband, Richard, her only sister, Louise Pellegrino and husband Paul of Lynnfield; six cousins who were very dear to her, Anthony Lamorte of Salem, Theresa Malagrifa and husband Albert of Lynn, Patricia Whittredge of Dudley, Margaret Hines of Salem, Elaine Llewellyn and Louis D’Agnese and wife Stephanie, along with extended family members and many close friends. She will be forever remembered and cherished by her family and friends.
Service information: Visiting hours at ELLIOTT, WOODWORTH & ROGERS Family Funeral Home, 35 Green St., Newburyport, will be Friday, Nov. 25, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 42 Green St., Newburyport, followed by burial in Belleville Cemetery, Newburyport. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joan Cleveland may be made to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, C/O Development Office, Dr. Joyce Research Fund, 330 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA 02215.
