Dorothea M. Gheringhelli, 90

LYNN — Mrs. Dorothea Marie “Dorothy” (LeBlanc) Gheringhelli, age 90, of Lynn, died on Monday, Aug. 22, 2016, following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Ret. Lynn Fire Dept. District Fire Chief Charles J. Gheringhelli, with whom she shared 46 years of marriage.

Born in Nahant on April 9, 1926, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Leo and Zella (Saulnier) LeBlanc. She was raised in Nahant and attended Nahant Public Schools. She graduated from Lynn English High School, Class of 1944 and moved to Lynn in 1948. Dorothy enjoyed gardening and her frequent visits to art museums. She would always help with the care of her grandchildren and will be remembered for the love and support she provided to her family.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Susan Theresa Bastarache and her husband Donald, Judith Mary Harrington and her husband Michael, John William Gheringhelli, Thomas Joseph Gheringhelli and his wife Ann, Marie Louise McDermott and her husband Raymond and Charles John Gheringhelli Jr. and his wife Laureen, all of Lynn; her grandchildren, Laura Barr, Julie Bastarache, Stephen and Sean Harrington, Lisa Hamilton, Diane Gheringhelli, Ryan and Marc McDermott and Charles J. Gheringhelli III; her six great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; her brothers, Francis LeBlanc of California, Eugene “Spike” LeBlanc of Nahant and Arthur LeBlanc of Saugus, and her many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. She was the sister of the late John and Leo LeBlanc.

The family would like to acknowledge the staff at the Phillips Manor Nursing Home for the care that they provided.

Service information: A funeral will be held on Friday, Aug. 26, 2016 at 10 a.m. from the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn, followed by a funeral Mass in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Lynnfield, at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Donations in Dorothy’s memory may be made to Lynn Fire Relief Association, P.O.
