LYNN–A Lynn man has been arrested in connection with the Wednesday afternoon shooting on Essex Street.
Adidas A. Mastin, 26, of 9 Clifton Ave., was arrested and charged with armed assault to murder, firearm use in a felony, firearm without a firearm identification card and armed robbery on Wednesday night.
Mastin was arraigned Thursday in Lynn District Court, Donnelly said.
Lynn Police responded to 395 Essex St., Centro Liquor Store, at approximately 12 p.m. on the report of a man who had been shot. Police officers encountered a 26-year-old white man from Salem with bullet hole to his chest, Lynn Police Lt. Rick Donnelly said.
The victim told officers he was walking down Essex Street when a black or hispanic male, wearing a baseball cap and dark colored jacket shot in the chest for no reason. Police believe the shooting occurred a short distance from the liquor store near the intersection of Mt. Pleasant and Essex streets, Donnelly said.
Information developed that Mastin worked at Monte’s Restaurant, located on Eastern Avenue, and was in the kitchen area. Police responded to the area and were able to apprehend him without incident, Donnelly said.
The shooting victim was transported to Mass General Hospital for precautionary measures, Donnelly said.
