LAKE WORTH, Fla. — Mrs. Bette C. (Gardyna) Sek, 83 years, of Lake Worth, Fla., and formerly of Lynn, Lynnfield and Swampscott, died on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, in the Trust Bridge Hospice at Bethesda West Hospital in Boynton Beach, Fla., after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late William Sek, with whom she shared 48 years of marriage until his death in 2001.
She was born in Lynn, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Melenia (Paczowska) Gardyna. She was raised in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, Class of 1950. She was a graduate of Simmons College in 1952.
She lived in Lynn, Lynnfield and Swampscott before moving to Florida.
She was a secretary for the National Park Service in Boston for many years. Bette was an accomplished pianist. She loved to garden, read and cook for her family.
She is survived by her sons, Stephen Sek and his wife, Suzanne, of Wellington, Fla., Jeffrey Sek of Boynton Beach, Fla., Paul Sek and his wife, Betty, of Revere, Ronald Sek of Peabody and Christoper Sek of Danvers, nine grandchildren, a brother, Alfred Gardyna of Andover, and 19 nieces and nephews. She is the sister of the late Raymond, Henry, Edmond, Staicha and Caroline.
Service information: Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:30 a.m., from the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn, followed by a funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church at 10:30 a.m. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery.
