LYNNHarold “Tom” Hinds, 76, of Lynn, devoted husband and best friend of 55 years to Elizabeth “Betty Ann” (Tetrault) Hinds, passed away peacefully surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for and loved on July 16, 2017, at Salem Hospital, following a brief illness.

Tom, a lifelong Lynn resident, was born on May 4, 1941, to the late C. Raymond and Cecilia (Hoffert) Hinds. He graduated from Essex Agricultural and Technical High School in 1959. He was employed by General Electric Gear Plant as a metal fabricator for thirty eight years retiring in 2004.

Tom is survived by his wife Betty Ann, his son Leo (Annette) Hinds of Stoneham, his daughter Kathryn (Paul) Kelley of Wakefield, his son Tom (Darlene) Hinds of Buford, Ga. and his four grandchildren; Benjamin, Katelyn, Christine, and Eva; who were his pride and joy and who brought endless happiness to his life. He is also survived by his brother Raymond (Marion) Hinds of Bridgeport, Conn. and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Leo Hinds and his sister Marie (Hinds) Healey.

Tom loved camping, canoeing, woodworking, cheering on his favorite NASCAR drivers from his comfy chair on Sunday afternoons, eating homemade chocolate chip cookies, smiling as he watched his grandchildren grow before his eyes and making them laugh with his stories from “back in the day”, filling album after album with photos of his family, giving belly rubs to his three loyal granddogs, Daisy, Rocky and Betsy, and providing homegrown tomatoes and a backyard oasis for his beloved Betty Ann. Tom treasured his family above all else. He was an adoring husband, a proud and caring father, and a doting grandfather.
