LYNN — More than 150 volunteers from General Electric improved four Lynn playgrounds.
Ames Street, Filene, Frey, and Gallagher playgrounds received a makeover from employees of the aviation division.
“Everybody got their hands dirty,” said Patricia Corner, a GE compliance manager.
Improvements included landscaping, planting, painting, repairing or replacing benches, and laying down mulch.
GE paid for the supplies while the city’s Department of Public Works (DPW) provided tools and equipment.
Lisa Nerich, DPW associate commissioner, said the project was a public-private partnership.
“The GE employees did a terrific job,” she said. “We’re very grateful for all the volunteers who gave these playgrounds a significant upgrade.”
