Julia Hoey, 94

LYNN — Mrs. Julia (Wing Jung) Hoey, 94, died Sunday, March 19, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Lynn.

Born in Chatham, N.J., and raised in New York, Julia was the daughter of Kwok and Yuk Hing (Moy) Wing Jung. Julia’s life truly blossomed after meeting and marrying her beloved husband of 70 years, the late Arthur Y. Hoey, and starting their family in Massachusetts.  

A talented cook and seamstress, Julia is remembered for creating beautiful and creative outfits for her three daughters. She also brought her sewing skills to the Cranberry Company where she was employed for many years.

Julia’s greatest joys were spending time with her family and as her family grew she enjoyed attending band concerts, school plays, baseball, soccer,  football, cross country, crewing events and golf tournaments.

She was a busy and involved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she kept a home that was loving, nurturing and spotless.

Julia is remembered as a loving mother to her children, Laura Y. Gray and  fiancé Jim O’Connor, Linda Y. Bergeron and husband Ron, Jacqueline Y. Eng and husband David and Ronald Y. Hoey and wife Vivien; as a devoted grandmother to Darren B. Eng and wife Susanne, Todd S. Gray and wife Kimberly, Jonathan D. Eng and wife Lindsay, Ethan Y. Hoey and the late Scott Gray; and as a doting great-grandmother to Eli and Asher Eng, Dylan and Zachary Gray, and Julia and Mathew Bauer Eng. She joins her late siblings William Jung, Charles Jung, Nova Woo, David Jung and Franklin Jung and is survived by her siblings, Joseph Jung and wife Bonnie, Ada Yung and husband Richard and June Louie and husband Paul, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews who will never forget her warm spirit and bright smile.

Service information: Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, 67 Ocean St. (Route 1A), Lynn. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
