Treacherous travel conditions are expected late Saturday afternoon and evening with several inches of snow predicted to fall.
The National Weather Service on Friday estimated an 80 percent chance of precipitation for Saturday snowfall. In Lynn, three to five inches of accumulation before 10 p.m. is possible.
Residents should check city and town websites for updated information on parking restrictions and other measures related to road-clearing work.
In Lynn, a parking ban will go into effective Saturday at noon. “Keep an eye on the City of Lynn website,” said DPW Commissioner Andrew J. Hall. “That’s the latest and greatest.”
In Peabody, an emergency parking ban has been declared for Saturday starting at 8 a.m.
A snow emergency has been declared in Revere and a parking ban begins Saturday at noon.
Swampscott interim town administrator and DPW director Gino Cresta has decided to put a parking ban into effect Saturday from 8 a.m. to midnight.
Some towns in the area have yet to implement emergency snow measures specific to the weekend weather.
Nahant Police Clerk Roz Puleo said the town hasn’t announced any additional parking restrictions on top of the annual winter ban.
“There’s no parking on the street if the plows are out,” said Puleo.
Police Lt. Michael Everett of Marblehead said nothing unusual is in effect for the weekend outside of the typical winter overnight parking ban.
Everett said the town usually only initiates an emergency ban after heavy snowfall when the streets are being cleared.
The Saugus Police Department was unaware of any extra measures taken to prepare for upcoming snow.
