THOMPSON, CONN. – On Friday, November 11, Lynn native Jordan Frye, who attends Marianapolis Preparatory School in Thompson, Conn., officially committed to the women’s basketball team at Fairfield University.

Frye is in her third season of playing basketball at Marianapolis. As a combo guard and co-captain of the varsity squad, Frye averaged 10 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals last season. Frye was also named to the Class A NEPSAC All Star Team last year.

For Frye, basketball has been an integral part of her life for as long as she can remember.

Both of my parents played college basketball so the game has played a huge role in my life,” she said. “Whether it was in my bucket seat as an infant or hanging out in the bleachers as a toddler, I always seemed to be in a gym with a ball in my hands.”

Her choice to sign with Fairfield was an easy one.

The very first time I went to campus I just had a gut feeling that this was the place for me,” Frye said. “I could imagine myself being able to achieve success both athletically and academically at Fairfield. Between the coaching staff, my future teammates and the basketball program, and the strong academics it was a very easy choice for me. I’m excited to finally be able to make what was once a dream a reality and compete at the college level.”

Fairfield University, located in Fairfield, Conn., is an NCAA Division I school competing in the MAAC conference. Frye is interested in the Film, Television & Media Program at Fairfield in the hopes of later pursuing a career in film or television editing.
