LYNN — Gary M. Matthews, 62, of Mirror Lake, N.H., formerly of Lynn, passed away Friday, Nov. 11, 2016 at Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover, N.H., surrounded by his family.
Born and educated in Lynn, Gary graduated from Lynn Classical High School with the Class of 1972. Gary was the son of the late Arthur and Milda (Trebul) Matthews.
He was the loving father of Michael Matthews and Daniel Richards, both of Lynn, and Peter Pavenski of Florida; the cherished grandfather of Mason; the dear brother of Wayne Matthews of Lynn and Debra Franklin of Las Vegas, Nev.; the uncle of two nephews and the former husband of Mary (Aleck) Shepardson of Epping, N.H.
Gary worked at GE Aviation in Lynn for many years until his retirement. He had a deep love for nature, the outdoors and enjoyed hiking, camping and fishing with his family and friends. He had a strong respect and appreciation for astronomy and enjoyed sharing his knowledge of the constellations with his family.
Service information: Visiting hours will be held Monday, Nov. 14 from 4-8 p.m. at the CUFFE-McGINN Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn. Gary’s funeral service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 11 a.m. in the CUFFE-McGINN Funeral Home. Burial of his ashes will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
