LYNN — When a man arranged a meeting with a woman he had been talking to on Facebook, he instead became the victim of an armed robbery early Wednesday morning.

The 18-year-old man from Lynn came into the police station to report he had been robbed at about 1:15 a.m. He told officers that he had been in contact with a girl on Facebook, later identified as 18-year-old Cheyanna Rojas, of Saugus. He had arranged a meeting with her at 111 Grant St., Lynn Police Lt. Rick Donnelly said.

Donnelly said when the victim was in his car, instead of being met by Rojas, he was approached by a man wielding a knife, later identified as Marcus Carlisle, 18, of Lynn. Carlisle allegedly produced the weapon and told the victim to give him everything he had or he was going to kill him, according to Donnelly.

The victim handed over $100 from his pocket and an iPhone. The victim then saw the suspect run back into 111 Grant St. A subsequent investigation resulted in police going to that location, where they arrested Carlisle, Donnelly said.

Carlisle was charged with armed robbery, larceny and resisting arrest.

Police then went to Rojas’ Facebook page to obtain more information and applied for a warrant for her arrest, on the belief that was linked to the robbery. She turned herself in to the police station on Wednesday afternoon, Donnelly said.

Rojas was charged with armed robbery and larceny.
